| Even though most people compare the look and style of this New York-based drag
artist to Dusty Springfield, Lady Bunny says Barbara Eden from
‘I Dream of Jeannie,’ inspired her look. (Photo by Jimmy Smith)

Bunny: I’m not really relationship
orientated. I travel a lot, and when you appear to be confident, people don’t
think that you need anything. Plus, gay men don’t like drag queens. They
like to watch them perform, they put them up on pedestals, but they wouldn’t
want to take them off that pedestal and [be with them].
Drag queens are at the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to the desirability
of gay men. There are a lot of confused men and straight-identified men that
like us, but they’re not relationship oriented, because they ain’t
taking me home to meet the family. It’s a bit of an odd thing, but whatever
turns you on turns you on.
President. Anybody would be an
improvement.
Make sure that you enjoy what you
do because it if takes off, you’ll be doing it a lot.
