EDINBURGH, Scotland — A drunk woman claimed a man was strangled, chopped
up and buried in a garden because he was gay, according to court testimony
from a hotel manager, the Scotsman newspaper reported last week. The woman,
Tracy Scott, 31, is the ex-girlfriend of Ian Sutherland, who allegedly murdered
and dismembered Alan Wilson, an Edinburgh school teacher, the newspaper reported.
Assistant hotel manager Leonie Canning, 36, told the court, “She told
me he [her partner] had murdered his flatmate, chopped up his arms and chopped
up his legs and buried him in the back garden. She said he had strangled him
and made strangling gestures with her hands,” the Scotsman reported.
Wilson’s sexual orientation was allegedly the motive for the killing,
according to the newspaper. The killing occurred on Feb. 1, according to witnesses.
Sutherland has denied the charges against him, the Scotsman reported.
