Adams said that Miers' approach to the civil rights, including gays and people with HIV, should be explored by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Lambda Legal plans to put together questions on this issue, and to work with Senate staff to make sure that the questions are asked and answered, Adams said.

The Log Cabin Republicans also expressed concern over Miers' responses to the Dallas Eagle Forum, and urged the Senate Judiciary Committee to question her on the matter.

"Most importantly, the Senate Judiciary Committee should ask Miers to explain how her personal views might impact existing Supreme Court precedent such as Bragdon vs. Abbott, which makes it clear that people living with HIV/AIDS are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act," Log Cabin Political Director Chris Barron said in a statement.
