Fendley said he has experience working closely with gays through his civic involvements.
“In my opinion, existing legalized same-sex discrimination and efforts to further codify discrimination are one of the greatest affronts to our society, and run directly counter to a general movement over time toward greater equality,” Fendley said.
Cecelia Espenoza, is running for Arlington County School Board as an independent.
Kris McLaughlin, president of the Arlington Gay & Lesbian Alliance said all three school board candidates attended an Oct. 20 forum sponsored by the group and all spoke about their plans for safe schools, the use of tax dollars provided by gay men and lesbians and visions for engaging parents in education.
“Allies and [gays and lesbians] … simply want our children to read and think. In Arlington County, we are graced with three candidates for our school board.”
“It’s not Provincetown, but it’s close,” McLaughlin said.
