win elections. The longer marriage can be kept in the news, the better for them.
But what are judges to do? Conclude that long-term couples should be entitled
to equal protection — but rule otherwise?
It is a dilemma. Soon, I hope a majority of Americans favor gays getting marriage
licenses and any of the other civil stuff law-abiding citizens get.
