African Human Rights Commission, the owner of two guesthouses for men only will close them before he will allow heterosexuals, women or lesbians, the Cape Times reported. Michiel Spaapen also owns gay-men-only guesthouses in City Bowl and Sea Point and faces the rights commission after a complaint by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance that the gay-men-only policy is discriminatory, according to the Times. “This is not about discrimination, it is about a niche market,” Spaapen told the Times. “We have nothing against straight people, we are simply creating an environment where gay men feel comfortable. Our resorts allow gay men to be together.”
