The board of directors for the D.C. Center for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender People voted on Sept. 20 to approve the release of a financial disclosure statement for the Center within the next two weeks, Center President Michael Sessa said this week.
The Center has not released detailed information about its finances since it was founded in 1999 and incorporated as a non-profit organization in 2002.
Sessa, who became Center president earlier this year, said the board would release a detailed narrative, along with a summary document on the history of the Center and its finances. He said the board would also release an un-audited finance statement in the form of a spreadsheet, which will show the Center's income and expenses.
Center officials have said the group was not required to file an IRS 990 financial disclosure statement until this year. Sessa said the Center's 990 statement is due to be filed in November.
