BALTIMORE BLACK PRIDE kicks off today with a weekend of events. Tonight from 5-9 p.m. is the Blackout Meet and Greet at Club Bunns, 606 West Lexington St., and Sunday is the fall festival block party from 4-11 p.m., with entertainment, food and vendors also at Club Bunns. GAYLAXICAN 2008, the annual international science fiction, fantasy and horror convention for gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender people and their friends, returns to the area for the first time since 2000. The convention will be at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda, Md., and events include discussion panels, readings, art show, masquerade, charity auction, video programs and gaming. COMPOSER MARVIN HAMLISCH will perform in a benefit concert for the Chateauville Foundation Festival tonight at the Kennedy Center at 7 p.m. Organizers plan a music festival in July on a 550-acre property in Castleton, Va. Tonight’s concert is part of the fundraising campaign to get it started. Maestro Lorin Maazel, Broadway star J. Mark McVey and soprano Nancy Gustafson will perform with Hamlisch. Regular tickets are $20 but benefit tickets, which start at $250 and include premium seating and a reception afterward with the artists, are also available. FALL(EN) ANGELS, a collaboration between the In Series and the Washington Ballet Company, has the first of four performances tonight at 8 p.m. The show is a fusion of dance, German Romantic art songs and cabaret music from Germany in the era between the two World Wars. It includes an unspoken tribute to actress Marlene Dietrich and features several of her signature numbers.
