The
D.C.
police
department’s
Gay
&
Lesbian
Liaison
Unit
was
recently
involved
in
the
following
cases.
The
GLLU
assists
in
a
wide
variety
of
cases
and
its
involvement
does
not
imply
any
person
or
business
is
gay,
lesbian,
bisexual
or
transgender.
•
A
woman
reported
to
the
GLLU
on
Nov.
4
at
1
p.m.
that
she
and
her
girlfriend
were
the
victims
of
an
assault.
The
woman
told
police
that
she
was
concerned
that
her
sexual
orientation
and
that
of
her
girlfriend
would
be
used
to
discredit
them
should
they
testify.
The
women
were
referred
to
the
Fairfax
County
Police
Department’s
Victim
Services
Unit.
•
A
man
reported
to
police
Nov.
6
at
10
p.m.
that
he
was
having
an
ongoing
dispute
with
his
boyfriend.
The
man
told
police
that
he
was
about
to
end
the
relationship
and
there
were
previous
instances
of
violence
between
the
two
men,
but
he
refused
to
provide
sufficient
details
to
document
a
criminal
allegation.
The
man
was
told
to
obtain
a
temporary
protection
order.
•
Police
were
called
Nov.
8
at
1:30
a.m.
to
the
intersection
of
Sixth
and
K
streets,
N.W.,
to
respond
to
a
reported
prostitution-related
complaint.
Officers
found
“six
to
10
transgender
individuals
walking
in
the
area,”
but
saw
no
evidence
of
prostitution.
No
police
action
was
taken,
but
information
about
the
situation
was
passed
along
to
the
GLLU.
•
Police
were
called
Nov.
9
at
2
a.m.
to
the
3700
block
of
Minnesota
Avenue,
S.E.,
to
respond
to
a
reported
unconscious
person.
Officers
found
a
transgender
woman
at
the
scene
who
refused
medical
attention.
The
woman,
who
refused
to
identify
herself
or
accept
transportation,
appeared
to
be
under
the
influence
of
alcohol
or
drugs.
•
A
woman
reported
to
the
GLLU
on
Nov.
10
that
she
had
received
a
series
of
harassing
phone
calls
at
her
home.
The
woman
told
police
that
beginning
Oct.
4,
she
had
been
called
“countless
times
by
an
unidentified
male”
who
uses
homophobic
and
profane
language
before
disconnecting.
•
Police
were
called
Nov.
14
at
4
a.m.
to
an
apartment
along
the
4200
block
of
Benning
Road,
S.E.,
to
respond
to
a
reported
domestic
dispute.
Officers
found
two
men
who
were
in
a
relationship
together
engaged
in
a
heated
argument.
There
was
no
evidence
of
criminal
activity.
•
Police
were
called
Nov.
14
at
5
p.m.
to
the
Martin
Luther
King,
Jr.
Memorial
Library
to
respond
to
a
reported
assault
and
robbery.
Officers
found
a
transgender
woman
who
told
police
she
was
assaulted
and
robbed
inside
a
library
stairwell.
The
woman
suffered
minor
injuries
and
refused
medical
attention.
•
A
man
reported
to
police
Nov.
15
at
midnight
that
his
landlord
was
threatening
him.
The
man
told
police
that
he
and
his
boyfriend
were
engaged
in
a
landlord-tenant
dispute
and
the
property
owner
had
left
a
voicemail
in
which
she
“expressed
homophobic
beliefs
and
intimated
the
victim
might
fall
victim
to
violence.”
•
Police
were
called
Nov.
15
at
2:45
a.m.
to
the
intersection
of
Sixth
and
K
streets,
N.W.,
to
respond
to
a
reported
prostitution-related
complaint.
Officers
found
about
eight
people,
“all
of
whom
appear
to
be
members
of
the
transgender
community,”
in
the
area.
Police
told
the
people
to
leave
the
area.
Additional
calls
were
received
after
police
left
the
scene.
Officers
returned
to
the
area
at
3:15
a.m.
and
saw
the
same
people
at
the
scene.
