The
D.C.
police
department’s
Gay
&
Lesbian
Liaison
Unit
was
involved
in
the
following
cases
this
week.
The
GLLU
assists
in
a
wide
variety
of
cases
and
its
involvement
does
not
imply
any
person
or
business
is
gay,
lesbian,
bisexual
or
transgender.
•
A
man
reported
to
the
GLLU
on
Aug.
1
that
he
was
the
victim
of
a
sexual
assault.
The
man
told
police
the
alleged
assault
occurred
in
the
1600
block
of
17th
Street
N.W.,
and
the
male
suspect
was
known
to
him.
The
matter
was
referred
to
the
Criminal
Investigations
Division’s
Sexual
Assault
Unit
for
investigation.
•
A
man
living
in
Loudon
County,
Va.,
reported
to
the
GLLU
on
Aug.
6
that
his
boyfriend
was
threatening
and
intimidating
him.
The
man
told
police
all
alleged
offenses
occurred
in
Virginia,
but
he
was
uncomfortable
disclosing
his
relationship
to
Virginia
police.
The
GLLU
referred
the
man
to
an
outreach
organization
in
Virginia
and
provided
him
with
safety
planning
and
other
resources.
•
Police
were
called
Aug.
8
at
2:50
a.m.
to
an
apartment
in
the
1200
block
of
13th
Street
N.W.
to
respond
to
threats
made
to
an
animal.
A
man
told
police
that
his
boyfriend
had
threatened
to
harm
their
shared
cat.
By
the
time
officers
arrived,
the
boyfriend
had
left
the
apartment
and
the
man
refused
to
provide
enough
information
to
substantiate
a
criminal
act.
Police
said
alcohol
or
drugs
were
a
factor
in
the
incident.
•
A
man
reported
to
the
GLLU
on
Aug.
9
that
he
was
the
victim
of
a
domestic
violence
assault.
The
man
told
police
he
was
with
a
former
boyfriend
in
the
1400
block
of
Alabama
Avenue
S.E.
when
the
two
began
to
argue
and
threatened
him
with
a
razor.
Police
said
the
man
sustained
minor
injuries
and
an
arrest
warrant
has
been
sought.
•
A
mental
health
care
provider
reported
to
the
GLLU
on
Aug.
9
that
a
client
in
Southeast
Washington
had
been
threatened
and
assaulted
by
the
client’s
former
boyfriend.
Police
said
the
client,
a
transgender
woman,
could
not
be
convinced
to
cooperate
with
officers
and
refused
to
provide
information
needed
to
conduct
an
investigation.
•
Police
were
called
Aug.
10
at
4
a.m.
to
the
1400
block
of
14th
Street
N.W.
to
respond
to
an
assault.
Police
said
upon
arriving,
officers
found
two
people
who
had
suffered
minor
injuries.
Police
said
the
two
people
told
officers
they
had
gotten
into
an
argument
with
a
group
of
men
and
that
argument
escalated
into
a
physical
altercation
that
included
the
use
of
“homophobic
epithets.”
By
the
time
officers
arrived,
the
men
had
left
the
scene
and
the
two
people
were
unable
to
provide
a
usable
description.
Police
said
alcohol
or
drugs
were
a
factor
in
the
incident.
