• The mother of a lesbian youth reported to the GLLU on Aug. 13 that she feared her daughter was in an abusive relationship. Police contacted the youth and offered resources and guidance.

• An anonymous caller reported to the GLLU on Aug 14 that he had information related to the murder of an individual.

• Police were called Aug. 15 shortly after midnight to the 1200 block of Alabama Avenue, S.E., to respond to an armed threat. Police found an uninjured woman in the area and were told that her ex-girlfriend and that woman’s current girlfriend had threatened her. Police found the suspects in a vehicle nearby and arrested one person. A handgun was recovered.

• A transgender woman reported to the GLLU on Aug. 15 at 10:30 a.m. that she was the victim of a dog attack near the intersection of 17th Street and Rosedale Street, N.E. The woman told police that a dog that had escaped from its yard attacked her and her own dogs. Police captured and quarantined the dog and advised the woman to file a “dangerous dog complaint.”

• Police were called Aug. 15 at 11 p.m. to a restaurant along the 1400 block of P Street, N.W., to respond to reports of an unconscious man. Other emergency personnel also responded. The man was taken to a local hospital and released shortly after his arrival. Police said drugs were a factor in the incident.

• Police were requested Aug. 15 to aide an investigation being conducted by the Joint Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshall’s Service. Members of the GLLU are assisting attempts to locate a gay man who previously lived in the Washington area. Police did not release the name of the man, saying doing so might jeopardize the investigation.

• Police were called Aug. 17 at 2 a.m. to a business along the 1500 block of 17th Street, N.W., to respond to reports of a disorderly customer. Police were told that a customer’s credit card had accidentally been given to another customer. Police reported the card as lost and the customer cancelled the card.

• Police were called Aug. 18 during early morning hours to the 3600 block of 22nd Street, S.E., to respond to reports of a shooting. Police found a woman with an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead by medical staff. Later that morning, the GLLU was notified and responded to the scene, but was told by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division’s Homicide & Sex Offense Branch that the assistance was not needed.

Anyone who has been the victim of a crime or has knowledge of a crime is encouraged to contact the GLLU on its 24-hour pager at 1-877-495-5995. Visit the GLLU online at www.gllu.org.
