BRITNEYPALOOZA, AN EVENT FEATURING THE MUSIC AND VIDEOS OF Britney Spears, will be held tonight at Rehab Bar & Nightclub, a gay bar in nearby Wheaton, Md. (two blocks from the Metro line). The bar is located at 11305 Georgia Ave. Event starts at 9 p.m. Cover is a minimum $3 drink purchase though the event is open to those 18 and up. A drag show starts at 10:30 p.m. The club is now under new ownership.
THE SUNDANCE BENEFIT IS this weekend in Rehoboth Beach, Del. It’s a two-night event at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. Live and silent auctions are held on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. On Sunday night, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., a dance is held with open bar all night. Us Helping Us is celebrating its 20th anniversary, Transgender Health Empowerment is celebrating its fifth anniversary and D.C. Coalition is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Event is being held from noon until dark at the Fort Washington Park in Fort Washington, Md., lots B1, B2, B3 and B4. The theme is “Good Things Come in Threes,” a nod to the anniversaries. CHARM CITY KITTY CLUB PRESENTS THE FEMME SHOW tonight at 8 p.m. at the Strand Theater in Baltimore with several gay performers. The show will include film clips, dance, readings, burlesque routines, drag and other performance art about the “femme” identity. Among the scheduled performers are Maggie Crowley, a dancer/choreographer and poet who was named a future gay rights leader by the Advocate in 2006; Alicia Greene, a black queer educator, activist and performer; Lea Robinson, who works for lesbian rights; and Elizabeth Whitney, a comedienne who’s been active in gay rights work and performs routines associated with gender, sexuality and pop culture.
