The D.C. police department’s Gay & Lesbian Liaison Unit was recently involved in the following cases. The GLLU assists in a wide variety of cases and its involvement does not imply any person or business is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

• Police were called Aug. 29 at 3 a.m. to a residence along the 3500 block of Sixth Street, S.E. to respond to a domestic disturbance. Responding officers found two women inside the residence, neither of whom contacted police or wanted police assistance. Officers completed a family disturbance report after finding evidence that the women, who told police they were girlfriends, had been arguing.

• Police were called Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. to a residence along the 3900 block of Illinois Avenue, N.W. to respond to a property damage complaint. Officers found a woman had returned home to find her garden damaged. The woman told police the she suspected the damage was caused by her ex-girlfriend, but could provide no supporting evidence. A report was taken and the Victim Services Unit is working with the woman on safety planning.

• Police were called Sept. 1 at midnight to respond to a reported robbery along the 2100 block of P Street, N.W. A man described the suspect to police as a black man, about 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds, a wearing a grey hooded jacket, blue jeans and a white shirt. The man said the suspect took the wallet from his pocket and then fled. The man was not injured.

• Police responded Sept. 1 at 12:45 a.m. to the sound of gunshots along the 100 block of 46th Street N.E., where they found an 18-year-old woman unconscious and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to her body. The victim was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead. Police have no lookout information. The investigation is being handled by the department’s homicide unit. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of her next of kin.

• A man reported to the GLLU on Sept. 1 at 5 a.m. that he had been assaulted by another man. The alleged victim told police he had met the suspect earlier that morning at Meridian Hill Park and invited the suspect back to his residence. The victim also told police that at some point, the suspect attacked him with a knife, inflicting serious injuries, then fled. The victim described the suspect to police as a Latino man, about 23 years old, with long black hair, and wearing dark blue pants and a blue shirt.

• Police arrested a transgender woman Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. along the 1900 block of M Street, N.W. on suspicion of assaulting her former boyfriend’s current girlfriend and inflicting minor injuries. Police said after being arrested, the woman spat on an officer and was found to be carrying a small amount of suspected marijuana.
