Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s record on gay issues angered many Blade readers who reacted to her surprise choice as John McCain’s running mate.

Re:
Blade
coverage
of
the
Republican
and
Democratic
conventions
Sure
she’s
for
gay
rights.
We
heard
John
McCain
tell
us
how
he
would
fill
the
Supreme
Court
with
the
pope
and
the
Southern
Baptists’
choices,
who
would
be
regressive
to
the
extreme.
If
Sarah
Palin
had
a
conscience,
she
would
publicly,
on
stage,
reject
McCain’s
offer
to
be
his
running
mate.
And
as
for
the
Log
Cabin
Republicans,
it
will
be
decades
before
I,
a
Republican
all
my
life
until
George
W.
Bush
came
along,
will
vote
for
any
Republican.
Same
for
my
family
and
most
of
my
friends.
I’m
also
forced
to
ask
if
the
Log
Cabin
Republicans
hate
themselves
in
some
internalized
way.
They’ve
joined
with
the
very
people
who
are
supporting
bigotry
against
them.
The
Log
Cabin
Republicans
are
pathetic.
It
is
sad
to
see
a
group
of
otherwise
capable
people
either
so
deluded
or
so
focused
on
selfish
interests
that
they
will
not
help
the
gay
community
by
supporting
pro-gay
candidates.
McCain
is
no
moderate
when
it
comes
GLBTs
—
he
has
consistently
voted
against
equality!
Joe
Biden
voted
for
DOMA
in
1996.
Neither
Obama
nor
Biden
supports
equal
marriage
rights.
Enough
said.
I
will
not
give
them
my
vote.
Why
are
these
LGBT
organizations
praising
them
instead
of
pressuring
them
to
move
in
a
more
progressive
direction?
The
Democrats
deserve
credit
for
all
the
new
openly
LGBT
delegates
at
this
year’s
convention.
They
may
not
be
perfect,
but
they’re
a
million
percent
better
than
the
Republicans.
How
many
openly
gay
GOP
delegates
are
there?
Like
a
dozen?
There’s
no
comparison.
They’ve
made
it
crystal
clear
they
don’t
want
gays
in
their
party,
so
we
should
all
help
elect
Barack
Obama
president.
Watching
the
two
conventions
is
like
night
and
day.
The
Democrats
have
energy,
ideas,
excitement,
diversity
and
youth.
The
Republicans
look
old,
white
and
tired.
They
seem
defeated
before
the
election
has
even
been
held.
McCain
is
a
sorry
choice
and
they’re
doomed.
I
love
the
conventions!
I
know
they’re
boring
and
antiquated
and
no
one
watches
anymore.
Heck,
even
the
major
networks
are
only
broadcasting
an
hour
a
night.
But
they
give
us
a
window
onto
the
parties,
the
party
leaders
and
how
they
will
lead.
The
Democrats
looked
great
—
huge,
crowded
venues
and
slick
production
values
and
technology.
The
GOP
delegates
are
crammed
into
a
small
auditorium
by
comparison
and
look
bored.
I
wish
the
Blade
and
all
media
outlets
would
pay
more
attention
to
the
protesters
outside
the
conventions.
There
have
been
mass
arrests
and
even
tear-gassing
of
protesters,
but
you’d
never
know
it
by
reading
your
coverage.
This
is
a
travesty.
Thank
you
for
the
in-depth
coverage
of
the
Democratic
convention,
but
where’s
the
equal
coverage
for
the
Republicans?
Peter
Rosenstein’s
blog
posts
from
Denver
were
very
fun
to
read.
I
bet
he’s
in
hot
water
with
D.C.
officials
for
blabbing
all
the
behind-the-scenes
details
from
the
convention.
Very
insightful
and
juicy
to
boot!
What’s
up
with
Obama’s
lame
gay
shout-out
during
his
acceptance
speech?
Hospital
visitation
rights?
Is
that
all
he
thinks
we’re
worth?
Marriage
is
about
a
lot
more
than
that
—
he
needs
to
catch
up
and
finally
embrace
full
marriage
equality
for
his
many
gay
supporters.
Thank
you
for
the
interview
with
Maryland
Gov.
Martin
O’Malley
from
Denver.
He’s
another
Democrat
who
used
gays
and
then
threw
us
under
the
bus
when
we
needed
him
to
lead.
You
should
keep
reminding
your
readers
of
his
betrayal
so
that
no
gay
person
ever
gives
him
another
dollar
or
vote.
Doug
Gansler
for
governor!
What
happened?
Howard
Dean
wouldn’t
give
you
guys
an
interview?
Leah
Daughtry
did
an
awesome
job
coordinating
the
Democratic
convention.
She
even
made
sure
it
didn’t
rain
on
Obama’s
parade!
