The D.C. police department’s Gay & Lesbian Liaison Unit was recently involved in the following cases. The GLLU assists in a wide variety of cases and its involvement does not imply any person or business is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

• ASSAULT: Police were called March 8 at 3:30 a.m. to the 1100 block of New Hampshire Avenue, N.W., to respond to a reported assault. A male victim, who was not injured, told police that he had met the male suspect along the 2000 block of P Street, N.W., and invited the man to return with him to his hotel room on New Hampshire Avenue. Once in the room, the suspect demanded money from the victim, who refused. A struggle ensued and the suspect escaped with the victim’s driver’s license and credit cards. The suspect was described as a black man, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and 200 pounds.

• DISPUTE: Police were called March 7 at 2:15 a.m. to the 2400 block of 16th Street, N.W., to respond to a reported roommate dispute. Officers learned the apartment’s two male residents were debating their living arrangements. The men were once in a relationship together and have continued to live together following the relationship’s end.

• ASSAULT: Members of the GLLU working March 6 along the 1800 block of Half Street, S.W., responded to a reported disorderly customer. Witnesses told police that the man assaulted several employees at the business. The employees were not injured. Police arrested the man and brought him to a police station. While at the station, the man assaulted two cell block workers, causing minor injuries.

Anyone who has been the victim of a crime or has knowledge of a crime is encouraged to contact the GLLU on its 24-hour pager at 1-877-495-5995. Visit the GLLU at www.gllu.org.
