Sheri Abrams has been selected for a 2009 Best of Fairfax Award in the local business category. Established to recognize the best of local businesses, the Best of Fairfax Award program recognizes companies that enhance the positive image of small businesses through service to their customers and community. As co-presidents of GAYLAW, Washington’s bar association for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender attorneys, Kristin Muenzen and Allen Orr are supporting a recent D.C. Board of Elections & Ethics decision to reject a referendum on marriage rights. Muenzen and Orr said they are committed to seeing the rights upheld.
The National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Bar Association has named Gary Kennedy, an American Airlines senior vice president and general counsel, as recipient of the 2009 Allies for Justice Award. The award recognizes people who have partnered with the LGBT community in the struggle for equality.
