production specifications & policies

camera-ready
File formats supported by the Washington Blade are: PDF, TIFF, JPG. Ads created in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, PowerPoint or any other word processing program cannot be accepted. Transparency layers must be flattened BEFORE saving in final format. Final-copy ads must be submitted as high-resolution (300 dpi), CMYK files.

Color files must be in CMYK format with no RGB, LAB, or Index color elements; black-and-white files must be grayscale, not RGB. Do not use 4-color black as text or solid backgrounds (use only C:0% M:0% Y:0% K:100%) Do not use text smaller than 6 pt or, for color/white text on a solid black background, 9.5 pt. Maximum density for all colors: 240. Do not place a bleed around ad before sending.

in-house production
All materials must be submitted no later than 5 pm Friday, one week prior to publication date.

Any files/photos/logos to be utilized in final ad must be sent in high resolution (300 dpi.) Any special fonts required must be Mac compatible, and must be sent along with ad materials. All applicable text and information to be used in creating ad should be submitted with all other materials.


All artwork or copy produced by Window Media remains property of Window Media.

deadlines
Deadlines: Space reservations, camera ready artwork, and all materials due 5 pm Friday, one week prior to publication date.

advertising responsibility
Window Media reserves the right to reject any advertisement submitted, as well as the right to print the word “advertisement” on any ad that, in our opinion, resembles editorial copy. We assume no responsibility for artwork or photographs left with us 30 days or longer after the last contract insertion date. The advertiser and/or advertising agency agrees to indemnify and hold harmless from and against any loss or expenses resulting from any disputes or legal claims.

rate protection clause
When new rates are announced, the advertiser is protected at their agreement rate throughout the term of their contract.
