Tonight, St. Thomas' Parish will host a discussion with international LGBT activists who are advancing the cause throughout South Asia.
Speakers will include Aniruddhan Vasudevan, an Indian dancer and choreographer. He organized the first Pride march in India's fourth largest city, this past summer. He'll speak to the history of the LGBT movement in India, including litigation to decriminalize homosexuality that's eight years in the making.
Also speaking will be Sapna Pandya, who will speak of her experiences with HIV/AIDS and community organizing among MSM in Pakistan and India, and Paul Gunaratnam, a human rights organizer who will talk about the situation in Sri Lanka.
Tonight's events begin at 6:30 p.m. with a light reception, and the presentation and Q&A follow at 7:30 p.m. Please RSVP to Paul Isakson at smileymbb@gmail.com. St. Thomas' Parish is located at 1772 Church St., NW.
