Friday, March 14, 2008
Just because Dupont Circle is one of Washington's most well-known and established neighborhoods doesn't mean it can't be improved. Since 2003, the Historic Dupont Circle Main Streets organization has sought to preserve the neighborhood's distinct character by boosting independent businesses and beautifying its streets. This year, HDCMS plans to raise money for both those goals during its upcoming Spring Fling fundraising event at the Connecticut Avenue Hilton.

Now in its third year, the event is a celebration of the HDCMS' past accomplishments and includes a silent auction and buffet dinner. The previous two Flings raised more than $47,000, and this year's goal is to raise an ...

From fashion to media coverage to the Nobel Peace Prize, going green is the hot button issue of the time. If you can't afford some fancy designer's new eco-chic line or a hybrid car, consider taking the environmental movement in an easier direction: seeds for your garden.
Like Dr. Jekyll, the Northwest Washington neighborhood of Adams Morgan has two distinct faces. The visage of Mr. Hyde comes out on Friday and Saturday nights when 18th Street, the main drag, gets clogged with obnoxiously drunk frat boy stereotypes.
Pies have been around in one form or another since the time of the ancient Egyptians who wrapped a kind of dough around fruit, nuts and honey.
