The D.C Bear Club, Wash-ington's official organization for bears, cubs and Levi/leather aficionados, will hold its 11th annual Bear Invasion weekend from Aug. 10-12 at the Holiday Inn on the Hill, located on New Jersey Ave., N.W. Has there ever been a band like The Cliks? As three hot lesbians with a transsexual, female-to-male lead singer and a roster of good old-fashioned rock songs, the group boasts a rare combination of image and musicianship that has launched it into queer stardom. This is due in no small part to front man Lucas Silveira, whose powerful pipes and undeniable sex appeal will be on display in Vienna, Va., at Jammin' Java on Friday, July 27.
For eight years, the White Attire Affair, an annual HIV/AIDS event, has focused on getting the message out to local black gays about HIV/AIDS and the need to get tested.

This year, however, the message for the Affair, which organizer Clyde Penn calls a “social marketing event,” will be a little bit different.

Just weeks ago, things were looking grim for Washington-area lesbians. The closing of Apex's Liquid Ladies left Phase One as the city's last established bastion of a girl's night out.
