Obama selects gay man for White House role
Brad Kiley to oversee salaries, budgeting

President-elect Barack Obama announced today that an openly gay man will serve as director of the White House Office of Management & Administration.

Brad Kiley, the new appointee, currently serves as director of operations for the Obama transition team and as an official for the Center for American Progress think tank.

The head of the White House Office of Management & Administration is charged with overseeing the operations of the White House in matters such as salaries, office space and budgeting.

Kiley served as deputy assistant to the president for management and administration under President Clinton, according to the Center for American Progress’ web site.

He also was director of finance and administration for the 1996 Democratic National Convention and has held in leadership positions at NARAL, a pro-choice organization, and the International AIDS Trust, the web site states.
